Pictured above is a copy of a version of the Holy Bible, known as the TODAY’S ENGLISH VERSION ( TEV ); being entitled: GOOD NEWS BIBLE.  Second Timothy 4:1-4 read as follows:

“In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and because he is coming to rule as King, I solemnly urge you 2 to preach the message, to insist upon proclaiming it (whether the time is right or not), to convince, reproach, and encourage, as you teach with all patience.  3 The time will come when people will not listen to sound doctrine, but will follow their own desires and will collect for themselves more and more teachers who will tell them what they are itching to hear.  4 They will turn away from listening to the truth and give their attention to legends.”

Here in America, it seems that women are considered to belong to a “special” class in society, which is free from being convinced or reproached, for example ( as is taught in verse two ), for its sins ( see 1 John 3:4, for example ).

This is part of the purpose for preaching the message, the truth ( cf. verse two and the first verse four ), God’s word ( see Psalm 119:65-73, 142, and 151; John 17:1, 3, and 17; and 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16, 17, for example ).  Although the feminist movement has resisted such efforts, this teaching from the apostle Paul to Timothy ( see 2 Timothy 1:1, 2 ) applies to both men and women alike.  The heavenly Father ( see Matthew 5:9, 16; 6:9, 14, for example; KJV, for example ) “wants everyone to be saved and to come to know the truth” ( see 1 Timothy 2:4 ).

Please read the Holy Bible ( which is God’s word – see Luke 8:19-21 ( especially verse 21, for example ); 11:27, 28 ( especially verse 28, for example ); and Revelation 1:1-8 ( especially verse 3, for example ), for example ).  If you have any questions about the Holy Bible, you can contact me by e-mail at:

The Holy Bible.

holy bible esv 6 crop 635x6402

Pictured above is a copy of a version of the Holy Bible, known as the ENGLISH STANDARD VERSION ( ESV ).  Proverbs 24:30-34 read as follows:

30 I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, 31 and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.  32 Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruction.  33 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, 34 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.”

The word “sluggard,” in verse thirty, is rendered “slothful” in this same verse in the King James Version ( KJV ) of the Holy Bible: the Hebrew word ( Hebrew [ 6102 ] ) for it is defined as follows:

indolent.”  [  See Strong’s EXHAUSTIVE CONCORDANCE OF THE BIBLE, STRONG, JAMES, HENDRICKSON PUBLISHERS, PEABODY, MASSACHUSETTS  01961-3473, ISBN  0-917006-01-1, ( A CONCISE DICTIONARY OF THE WORDS IN THE HEBREW BIBLE; WITH THEIR RENDERINGS IN THE AUTHORIZED ENGLISH VERSION.  BY JAMES STRONG, S.T.D., LL.D., p. 90. ).  ]

The word “indolent,” in the definition given immediately above, is defined as follows:

“. . . adj.   1  Averse to exercise; habitually inactive or idle. . . .”  [  See NEW ILLUSTRATED WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY Including THESAURUS of SYNONYMS & ANTONYMS, PMC Publishing Company, Inc., 118 EAST 28th STREET, NEW YORK, NY  10016, dictionary portion: pages 1-1150, Copyright © 1992, by J.G. Ferguson Publishing Company, Chicago, Illinois, p. 495.  ]

Moreover, a synonym for the word “idle” ( as we find in the definition given immediately above ) is the word “lazy.”  Proverbs 20:13 reads as follows: “13 Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of bread.”

Thus, the sin ( see Psalm 119:65-73, 142, and 151; John 17:1, 3, and 17; 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16, 17; and 1 John 3:4 ( KJV, for example ), for example ) of loving sleep is associated with the sin of laziness, and the end result is poverty ( as we read in both passages from the Holy Bible, quoted above ).

Judges 14:1-4 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) read as follows:

“And Samson went down to Timnath , and sawe [ sic ] a woman in Timnath , of the daughters of the Philistines.  And hee came vp, and told his father and his mother, and said , I haue seene a woman in Timnath , of the daughters of the Philistines : nowe [ sic ] therefore get her for me to wife.  Then his father and his mother said vnto him , Is there neuer a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the vncircumcised Philistines?  And Samson said vnto his father , Get her for me, for shee pleaseth me well.  But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that hee sought an occasion against the Philistines : for at that time the Philistines had dominion ouer Israel” ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).

2 Samuel 24:1 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) reads as follows:

And againe the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and hee mooued [ sic ] Dauid against them , to say , Goe [ sic ], number Israel and Iudah” ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).

Jeremiah 25:7-13 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) read as follows:

“Yet yee haue not hearkened vnto me, saith the LORD, that yee might prouoke me to anger with the workes of your handes, to your owne hurt.  Therefore thus saith the LORD of hostes ;  Because yee haue not heard my words : behold, I will send and take all the families of the North, saith the LORD, and Nebuchad-rezzar [ sic ] the king of Babylon my seruant, and will bring them against this land, and against all these nations round about, and will vtterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetuall desolations.  Moreouer, I will take from them the voyce [ sic ] of myrth, and the voice of gladnes [ sic ], the voice of the bridegrome [ sic ], and the voice of the bride, the sound of the milstones, & the light of the candle.  And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment, and these nations shal [ sic ] serue the king of Babylon seuentie yeeres.  And it shall come to passe when seuentie yeeres are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquitie, and the land of the Caldeans, and will make it perpetuall desolations.  And I will bring vpon that land all my words which I haue pronounced against it, euen all that is written in this booke , which Ieremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.”

With Judges 14:1-4 and 2 Samuel 24:1 in mind, we see examples of the providence of God.  With Jeremiah 25:7-13 in mind, we see that God punishes iniquity ( please read Judges 14:1-20, 2 Samuel 24:1-25, and Jeremiah 25:1-38 to get the context of these passages in the Holy Bible ).  We can see the providence of God and His punishment of iniquity in recent world events.

When considering what happened here in America on September 11th, 2001, it is clear that God’s anger was kindled against America.  God, through His providence, punished America’s iniquity by allowing al-Qaida’s attacks against America on that day.  From Jeremiah 25:1-11, we see that the prophet Jeremiah prophesied concerning God’s punishment on all the people of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.  However, we see from Jeremiah 25:12, 13 that when the seventy years was accomplished, the LORD would punish the king of Babylon and that nation ( the very king and nation that the LORD had previously used to punish all the people of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem ) for their iniquity.

In May of 2011, in a manner similar to God’s punishment of the king of Babylon and that nation ( as mentioned above ), God, through His providence, punished al-Qaida’s iniquity by allowing Osama bin Laden to be killed.  While there are similarities between what is taught in Jeremiah 25:1-13, and the above-mentioned world events that occurred on September 11th, 2001, and again in May of 2011, the comparison is not an exact parallel.  Namely, there was a time span of seventy years mentioned in Jeremiah 25:1-13, whereas, in the two recent world events mentioned above, there was a time span of less than ten years.  Whatever the case may be, the above-mentioned lessons concerning God’s providence, and His punishment of iniquity, are clear.

As a Christian ( see Acts 11:26, for example ), I gladly state that I am on God’s side ( see Joshua 24:15, Romans 8:31, and Romans 15:4, for example ).

NOTE:  The above-given reference to 2 Samuel 24:1, in the context of the providence of God, was derived from the following source:

Ephesians 4:29 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) reads as follows:

“Let no corrupt communication proceede out of your mouth , but that which is good to the vse of edifying, that it may minister grace vnto the hearers.”

The Greek word ( Greek [ 4550 ] ) for the word – “corrupt” – in Ephesians 4:29 ( KJV, KJV; 1611 EDITION, and NKJV ) is defined as follows:

rotten, i.e. worthless (lit. or mor.).”  [  See  ABINGDON’S STRONG’S EXHAUSTIVE CONCORDANCE OF THE BIBLE, STRONG, JAMES, S.T.D., LL.D., ABINGDON PRESS, NASHVILLE, Copyright, 1890, by JAMES STRONG, MADISON, N.J., ( A Concise Dictionary of the Words in the Greek/New Testament with their Renderings in the King James Version, p. 86. ).  ]

The word – “profanity” – is defined as follows:

n. . . . .   2  Profane speech or action.”  [  See NEW ILLUSTRATED WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY Including THESAURUS of SYNONYMS & ANTONYMS, PMC Publishing Company, Inc., 118 EAST 28th STREET, NEW YORK, NY  10016, dictionary portion: pages 1-1150, Copyright 1992, by J.G. Ferguson Publishing Company, Chicago, Illinois, p. 773.  ]

Furthermore, the word – “profane” – is defined as follows:

v.t.   1  To treat (something sacred) with irreverence or abuse; desecrate; pollute.   2  Abusive or improper treatment of anything; misuse.”  [  Ibid.  ]

The word – “pollute” – in the definition given immediately above is defined as follows:

“To make unclean or impure; dirty; corrupt.”  [  Ibid., p. 752.  Emphasis mine, R.E.W.  ]

With Ephesians 4:29 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) and the above-given definitions in mind, profanity ( in terms of this context of speech ) is unclean, impure, dirty, and corrupt.  Moreover, it is  rotten or worthless ( literally or morally ).

Those of us who are Christians ( see Acts 11:26, for example ) must not use ( or excuse ) profanity in any form – we must not speak it, we must not write it, we must not read it, and we must not listen to it.  Profanity is a sin.  Sin is transgression of God’s law ( The Holy Bible – see Psalm 119:72, 2 Timothy 3:16, 17, and 1 John 3:4, for example ).

Matthew 5:28 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) reads as follows:

“But I say vnto you, That whosoeuer looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adulterie with her already in his heart.”

The Greek word ( Greek [ 1937 ] ) for the word – “lust” – in Matthew 5:28 ( KJV;1611 EDITION, KJV, and NKJV, for example ) is defined as follows:

“to set the heart upon, i.e. long for (rightfully or otherwise):”  [  See Strong’s EXHAUSTIVE CONCORDANCE OF THE BIBLE, STRONG, JAMES, HENDRICKSON PUBLISHERS, PEABODY, MASSACHUSETTS 01961-3473, ISBN  0-917006-01-1, ( A CONCISE DICTIONARY OF THE WORDS IN THE GREEK TESTAMENT; WITH THEIR RENDERINGS IN THE AUTHORIZED ENGLISH VERSION, p. 31. ).  ]

The word – “pornography” – is defined as follows:

n.  1  Depictions of sexual acts or behavior, as in writing, photographs, motion pictures, etc., to stimulate erotic feelings.”  [  See NEW ILLUSTRATED WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY Including THESAURUS of SYNONYMS & ANTONYMS, PMC Publishing Company, Inc., 118 EAST 28th STREET, NEW YORK, NY  10016, dictionary portion: pages 1-1150, Copyright 1992, by J.G. Ferguson Publishing Company, Chicago, Illinois, p. 755.  ]

The word – “erotic” – is defined as follows:

adj.  Of or pertaining to passionate love; amorous; amatory:”  [  Ibid., p. 331.  ]

With Matthew 5:28 and the above-given definitions in mind, it is clear that pornography is condemned in the Holy Bible.  Men ( and women as well ) must not read pornographic writings, look at pornographic magazines ( such as Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, and Playgirl ( which is a temptation for women ), for example ), nor watch pornographic movies.

The magazines mentioned above are obviously intended to stimulate erotic feelings in those who look at the pictures contained therein.  However, there are other magazines that, though not generally classified as pornographic, have pornographic pictures either on their covers, or both on their covers and on their pages within.  Swimsuit magazines, Muscle & Fitness magazine, Hot Rod magazine, Victoria’s Secret magazine, and other magazines either have pornographic pictures on their covers, or have pornographic pictures both on their covers and on their pages within; grown men and teen age boys generally being the intended readers of the vast majority of such magazines ( with the exception of the swimsuit magazines for women, for example ).

Grown men ( myself being a man, I know how men think ) and young, teen age boys are susceptible to the temptations posed by the magazines mentioned above.  Those who look at pornographic magazines ( or the other types of magazines mentioned above ), or who watch pornographic movies, will certainly be stimulated to think erotic thoughts, and will have erotic feelings stimulated within them.  To do so is sinful ( recall what Jesus ( see Matthew 4:23 ) said in Matthew 5:28 ).

It is sinful for a married man to lust after a woman he is not married to ( recall Matthew 5:28 and see 1 Corinthians 7:1-9 ( especially verse 9, for example ), for example ), and it is sinful for a single man to lust after any woman.  With all of the above-mentioned information in mind, how does a man ( or a teen age boy ) avoid having inappropriate thoughts?  Philippians 4:8 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) reads as follows:

“Finally, brethren, whatsoeuer things are true, whatsoeuer things are honest, whatsoeuer things are iust, whatsoeuer things are pure, whatsoeuer things are louely , whatsoeuer things are of good report : if there bee any vertue, and if there bee any praise, thinke on these things :”

Philippians 4:8 teaches that we must control what we think.  Controlling what we think means not reading pornographic writings, not looking at pornographic magazines ( and the other, similar types of magazines mentioned above ), not watching pornographic movies, and not viewing pornographic content on the Internet either.  It would be well-advised to cease to make available all pornographic materials, both in hardcopy format, and in digital format on the Internet.  Whatever the case may be, avoid all pornography ( see Leviticus 18:1-20 and Proverbs 6:25-35 ( especially verse 25 ), and recall Matthew 5:28 and Philippians 4:8, for example ).

     Proverbs 23:20, 21 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) read as follows:

“Be not amongst wine-bibbers ; amongst riotous eaters of flesh.  For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to pouerty ; and drousinesse shall cloath a man with ragges”  ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).

The Hebrew word ( Hebrew [ 2151 ] ) for the word – “glutton” – in Proverbs 23:21 is defined as follows:

“to shake (as in the wind), i.e. to quake; fig. to be loose morally, worthless or prodigal.”  [  See ABINGDON’S STRONG’S EXHAUSTIVE CONCORDANCE OF THE BIBLE, STRONG, JAMES, S.T.D., LL.D., ABINGDON PRESS, NASHVILLE, Copyright, 1890, by JAMES STRONG, MADISON, N.J., ( A Concise Dictionary of the Words in the Hebrew Bible with their Renderings in the King James Version, p. 45. ).  ]

The word – “prodigal” – in the above-given definition is defined as follows:

adj.  1 Addicted to wasteful expenditure, as of money, time, or strength; extravagant.”  [  See NEW ILLUSTRATED WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY Including THESAURUS of SYNONYMS & ANTONYMS, PMC Publishing Company, Inc., 118 EAST 28th STREET, NEW YORK, NY  10016, dictionary portion: pages 1-1150, Copyright 1992, by J.G. Ferguson Publishing Company, Chicago, Illinois, p. 772.  ]

Matthew 11:19 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) reads as follows:

“The sonne of man came eating and drinking, and they say , Behold a man gluttonous, and a wine bibber, a friend of publicanes and sinners : but wisedome is iustified of her children” ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).

The Greek word ( Greek [ 5314 ] ) for the word – “gluttonous” – in Matthew 11:19 ( KJV and KJV; 1611 EDITION ) is defined as follows:

“a glutton.”  [  See ABINGDON’S STRONG’S EXHAUSTIVE CONCORDANCE OF THE BIBLE, STRONG, JAMES, S.T.D., LL.D., ABINGDON PRESS, NASHVILLE, Copyright, 1890, by JAMES STRONG, MADISON, N.J., ( A Concise Dictionary of the Words in the Greek/New Testament with their Renderings in the King James Version, p. 101. ).  ]

The word – “glutton” – in the above-given definition is defined as follows:

n.  1 One who gluts himself; an excessive eater” ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).  [  See NEW ILLUSTRATED WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY Including THESAURUS of SYNONYMS & ANTONYMS, PMC Publishing Company, Inc., 118 EAST 28th STREET, NEW YORK, NY  10016, dictionary portion: pages 1-1150, Copyright 1992, by J.G. Ferguson Publishing Company, Chicago, Illinois, p. 414.  ]

When considering Proverbs 23:20, 21 together with Matthew 11:19, it is clear that it is a sin to be a glutton.  Yet, during the celebration of the 4th of July ( which I do not celebrate ), a hot dog-eating contest usually takes place.  During such a contest, the contestants can be seen gorging down hot dog after hot dog; competing against each other to see who can eat the most hot dogs in a given amount of time.

A hot dog-eating contest ( like other similar forms of competitive eating ) is a grotesque, unsavory display of eating – such an unpleasant image is associated with one who commits the sin of being a glutton.  Furthermore, a Christian ( see Acts 11:26, for example ) will not participate in such sinful activity.

The Holy Bible.

Proverbs 18:22 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) reads as follows:

Who so findeth a wife , findeth a good thing, and obtaineth fauour of the LORD.”

I do not have a wife, but I would love to have one.  If I had a wife, I would thank God every day for her ( cf. Colossians 3:19 and 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ).

Some husbands take their wives for granted, spend more time on their hobbies than they do with their wives, or refer to their wives in a degrading manner by calling them – “My old lady.”  A man, who is a member of the Taliban, would probably take his wife and force her face-down on the ground in his front yard, and beat her with a cane or stick if she burned the toast.  That is not at all what a Christian ( see Acts 11:26, for example ) husband would do.

If my wife burned the toast, I would tell her – “It is okay, honey.” – and would even consider eating ( and probably would eat ) a piece of that burned toast, just to make her feel better about the situation.  Christ is the example for all husbands.  The apostle Paul ( see Ephesians 1:1 ) recorded for us the following in Ephesians 5:25 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ):

“Husbands, loue your wiues, euen as Christ also loued the Church , and gaue himselfe for it” ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).

Ephesians 5:25 ( KJV ) reads as follows:

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it” ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).

The phrase – “gave himself for it” – in Ephesians 5:25 ( KJV; with center-column references ) has a cross-reference to Acts 20:28.  Acts 20:28 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) reads as follows:

“Take heed therefore vnto your selues, & to all the flocke, ouer the which the holy Ghost hath made you ouerseers, to feed the Church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood” ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).

The Lord Jesus ( see John 1:1, 14, Acts 20:24, Ephesians 1:1-7 ( especially verse 7, for example ), and Colossians 2:8, 9 ( especially verse 9, for example ), for example ) died for the church ( recall Acts 20:28 and see Luke 23:26-49, for example ).  A husband must love his wife enough to die for her.  When husbands realize this, then they will learn not to take their wives for granted, they will not spend more time on their hobbies than they do with their wives, and they will not speak about their wives in a degrading manner.

Furthermore, a man who finds a wife “obtaineth fauour of the LORD” ( recall Proverbs 18:22; KJV; 1611 EDITION ).

The Holy Bible.

2 Timothy 2:24 ( NKJV ) reads as follows:

“And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient” ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).

2 Timothy 2:24 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) reads as follows:

“And the seruant of the Lord must not striue : but bee gentle vnto all men, apt to teach, patient” ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).

The Greek word ( Greek [ 3164 ] ) for the word – “strive” – in 2 Timothy 2:24 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) is defined as follows:

“to war, i.e. (figuratively) to quarrel, dispute.”  [ See ABINGDON’S STRONG’S EXHAUSTIVE CONCORDANCE OF THE BIBLE, STRONG, JAMES, S.T.D., LL.D., ABINGDON PRESS, Copyright, 1890, by JAMES STRONG, MADISON, N.J., ( A Concise Dictionary of the Words in the Greek/New Testament with their Renderings in the King James Version ), p. 61. ]

Thus, the definition of  the Greek word ( Greek [ 3164 ] ) for the word – “strive” – in 2 Timothy 2:24 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION ) includes the word – “quarrel”.  The word – “quarrel” – is used in 2 Timothy 2:24 ( NKJV ), but how is the word – “quarrel” – defined?

The word – “quarrel” – is defined as follows:

n.  1  An unfriendly, angry, or violent dispute.”  [ See the NEW ILLUSTRATED WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY Including THESAURUS of SYNONYMS & ANTONYMNS, PMC Publishing Company, Inc., 118 EAST 28th STREET, NEW YORK, NY  10016, ( dictionary portion: pages 1-1150, Copyright 1992, by J.G. Ferguson Publishing Company, Chicago, Illinois ), p. 792. ]

Thus, we see from 2 Timothy 2:24 that a servant of the Lord must not quarrel ( “strive” – recall 2 Timothy 2:24 ( KJV; 1611 EDITION )).  More specifically, a servant of the Lord must not be involved in an unfriendly, angry, or violent dispute ( recall the definition of the word – “quarrel” – above ).  The words in 2 Timothy 2:24 were written by the apostle Paul ( see 2 Timothy 1:1 ), to the young evangelist Timothy ( see 1 Timothy 2:12, 2 Timothy 1:2, and 2 Timothy 4:2, 5, for example ), however, all Christians ( see Acts 11:26, for example ) can benefit from what is taught in 2 Timothy 2:24 ( see Acts 22:16, Galatians 3:27, 2 Timothy 2:22, and 2 Timothy 3:16, 17, for example ).

Proverbs 16:26 ( NKJV ) reads as follows:

“The person who labors, labors for himself, for his hungry mouth drives him on.”

This is part of God’s law regarding working and eating, and God’s law is absolute ( see Psalm 119:72, Matthew 28:18, John 5:26, 27, Romans 15:1-4 ( especially verse 4, for example ), and 2 Timothy 3:16, 17, for example ).  According to God’s law, we work so that we will be able to have food to eat.

Laziness is a sin.  Proverbs 19:15 ( NKJV ) reads as follows:

“Laziness casts one into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger.”

When we consider Proverbs 16:26 ( NKJV ) and Proverbs 19:15 ( NKJV ) together, it is clear that laziness is a sin.

God has commanded that we work ( for those of us who are able to work ), so that we will be able to have food to eat.  If we sin by being lazy, we will suffer the consequences of that sin – we will “suffer hunger” ( recall Proverbs 19:15; NKJV ).  Furthermore, 2 Thessalonians 3:10 ( NKJV ) reads as follows:

“For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.”

Thus, we see from God’s law that, not only will a lazy person suffer hunger, but also if a person ( who is able to work ) will not work, then that person should not be allowed to eat.

The word “atheist” is defined as follows:

n.  One who denies or disbelieves in the existence of God.” [ See the NEW ILLUSTRATED WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY Including THESAURUS of SYNONYMS & ANTONYMS, PMC Publishing Company, Inc., 118 EAST 28th STREET, NEW YORK, NY 10016 ( dictionary portion: pages 1-1150, Copyright 1992, J.G. Ferguson Publishing Company, Chicago, Illinois ), p. 65. ]

Romans 1:18-20 ( NKJV ) read as follows:

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse” ( emphasis mine, R.E.W. ).

From Romans 1:20 ( NKJV ), we see that God’s ( recall Romans 1:18, 19 to get the context ) “invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made. . . .”

Thus, when we observe the creation ( recall Romans 1:20 and see Genesis, chapter 1 ( especially verses 1 and 27 ), Genesis, chapter 2, and Psalm 19:1-6, for example ), we can clearly see the existence of God.  There is, therefore, no excuse for someone being an atheist.  Furthermore, an atheist is not saved, and is in danger of going to hell ( see Matthew 10:28, Mark 9:43, 44, Mark 16:15, 16, John 12:48, and Revelation 21:8, for example ).

One must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, by immersion in water, for the remission of sins, in order to be saved ( recall Mark 16:15, 16 and see Acts 2:38, 41, and 47, Acts 8:26-40 ( especially verses 30-39 ), Romans 6:3, 4, Galatians 3:27, and 1 Peter 3:21, for example ).
